Let's Roll!

Hello there! I'm Kelly from Kelly Tareski Photography. Today, I'm thrilled to share with you a journey close to my heart - the birth of our Chicken Coop Venue and Studio. Not every day, you hear about a photography studio sharing space with a flock of chickens, right? Well, that's exactly the kind of quirky, fun environment we've embraced here. Our chicken coop is more than just a home for our feathered friends; it's a novel, vibrant space for photographers and clients alike. Let's dive into this unconventional story, feathers and all!

As photographers, we know that the essence of a great photo lies in its setting. The Chicken Coop Venue and Studio at Kelly Tareski Photography is a love letter to this belief. Every inch of this space has been crafted to exude a rustic charm that transports you straight into the pages of a vintage country living magazine.

With their weathered wood, the walls tell a story of times gone by, creating a backdrop that adds depth and character to every shot. The eclectic collection of vintage props scattered around the coop — from old lanterns to wooden crates — is more than just decoration. They're tools to craft a narrative, to add layers to the stories our clients want to tell through their photographs.

The Inspiration Behind the Chicken Coop

The idea sprouted one fine day when I looked out at our Nine Mile Falls property, wondering how to blend my love for photography with my fondness for country living. Why not, I thought, bring the serene charm of the country right into a photography studio? Thus, the concept of the Chicken Coop Venue was hatched.

Picture this: a rustic setting, the gentle clucking of chickens, and the perfect golden hour light casting a warm glow over everything. It sounded like a photographer’s dream! This vision was about creating a space that wasn't just visually stunning but also alive and pulsating with the energy of nature.

It's not just a studio; it's an experience that we believe would resonate with fellow photographers seeking a unique venue and clients looking for a one-of-a-kind backdrop for their special moments.

Getting Started

Embarking on the construction of our Chicken Coop Venue and Studio was like setting off on an adventure without a map. We knew our destination - a post-frame style structure that oozed a rustic and vintage barn charm. However, the path to get there was filled with learning and unexpected twists.

Our goal was to create a space that was authentically rustic, not just another manicured studio pretending to be something it's not. The post-frame construction was perfect for this. It gave us that sturdy, barn-like feel, but trust me, getting there was no walk in the park! Balancing the structural integrity while maintaining the aesthetic appeal was our constant battle.

We faced a host of challenges, from sourcing the right vintage materials to ensuring the coop was comfortable and safe for our feathered residents. Every nail, board, and shingle was chosen with care.

It's a Venue?

Integrating the chicken living space within the studio was one of the most unique aspects. This wasn't just a backdrop; it was a functional home for our seven chickens. Ensuring their comfort while maintaining the studio's functionality was crucial. So, we designed spaces that were both chicken-friendly and photographically aesthetic. Yes, it was like solving a complex puzzle where the pieces were beams, nests, and camera angles!

But let's not forget the stars of the coop - our chickens. These feathery beauties add an unexpected and delightful element to the shoots. Their presence brings a sense of life and authenticity that can't be replicated with props or digital effects. It’s about capturing moments in a setting that is true, living, and breathing.
