Building The Apiary Venue at Kelly Tareski Photography

Let's Roll!

Hey there, fellow photography business owners! I'm Kelly Tareski, the proud owner of Kelly Tareski Photography. Today, I am thrilled to share with you all about our latest addition to our venue - an Apiary! We recently embarked on a project to build a stunning Apiary using post-frame construction and reclaimed materials, all finished in a vintage barn style. I cannot wait to tell you all about the process and how it has added such a unique touch to our photography space.

Where to put the Apiary

Our journey to create the Apiary began with discovering the ideal spot on our property. We aimed for a convenient location and provided a serene environment for our photography sessions. We explored every nook and cranny of our property until we found the perfect spot blessed with abundant sunlight and shielded from the blustery winds.

Gathering Materials

With our perfect spot secured, we embarked on the exciting task of gathering materials to bring our vision to life. We wanted the Apiary to exude a timeless charm, so we sought out weathered wood and antique metal accents. These materials, aged by time and weather, would lend an air of rustic elegance to our Apiary, making it a cozy retreat for both bees and photographers alike.

Hidden Treasures

The process of collecting these materials was like uncovering hidden treasures. Each piece of weathered wood and antique metal carried with it a story of its own, imbuing our Apiary with a sense of history and character. From old barns to forgotten homesteads, these reclaimed materials breathed new life into our project, transforming it into a haven of nostalgia and charm. My husband and I regularly go on "Farm Picks" to source materials and decorations for the many venues on the grounds. We pride ourselves on finding authentic and amazing pieces to add to the property.

Building The Foundation

Next came the post-frame construction phase. This method allowed us to create a sturdy structure that would withstand the elements while also providing an open and airy feel. We worked closely with skilled craftsmen who helped bring our vision to life, ensuring every detail was meticulously crafted. As each post was erected and beams were installed, we could already envision how stunning the finished Apiary would look.

Vintage Look and Feel

As the construction neared completion, it was time to add those vintage barn-style finishes that would tie everything together. We used rich wood stains to enhance the natural beauty of the reclaimed materials and added decorative touches like classic lanterns and hanging plants. The final result was even more beautiful than we had imagined - a charming Apiary that exuded warmth and character.

New Home for the Honey Bees!

With our Apiary now complete, it was time to introduce our new residents - bees! We carefully selected local bee colonies known for their gentle nature and productivity. As we transferred them into their new hives within the Apiary, we couldn't help but feel a sense of pride knowing that they would thrive in such a picturesque environment. Watching them buzz around their new home brought us immense joy and excitement for what they would bring to our photography sessions.

That's a Wrap

Building an Apiary at Kelly Tareski Photography has truly been a rewarding experience. Not only does it add a unique touch to our venue, but it also provides an amazing backdrop for photography sessions.
