Why I Made the Switch to a Mirrorless Nikon Camera Let's Roll! Hey guys, it’s Kelly from Kelly Tareski Photography, and today’s blog is all about why I made the switch from a DSLR camera to a mirrorless camera. As a professional photographer, I’m always looking for ways to improve the quality of my work, and I’ve found that mirrorless cameras have several advantages that have helped me do just that. If you’re a fellow professional photographer, or just someone interested in the world of photography, keep reading to find out more about the perks of using a mirrorless camera. Size The first advantage of mirrorless cameras I’ve noticed is their size. Mirrorless cameras are generally smaller and lighter than DSLR cameras, making them a much more portable option for professional photographers on the go. When I’m doing on-location photo shoots, I need to carry a lot of equipment with me, and every ounce counts. A smaller, lighter camera means I can carry more lenses, flashes, and other accessories without weighing myself down. It’s also much less conspicuous when I’m out and about in public places, which is especially helpful when I need to blend in and capture candid moments. Quiet Another perk of using a mirrorless camera is its silent shooting mode. Unlike DSLR cameras, which make a loud clicking noise when taking photos, mirrorless cameras are nearly silent. This is a huge advantage in situations where noise would be distracting or disruptive, such as at a wedding ceremony or during a wildlife photo shoot. I’ve found that I can capture more emotional, authentic moments because people are less wary of the camera. More Features Mirrorless cameras also have an electronic viewfinder, which offers several benefits over an optical viewfinder. For one, an electronic viewfinder shows exactly what the final image will look like, taking into account things like exposure and white balance. This means that I can make adjustments on-the-fly and get better results with fewer wasted shots. Additionally, electronic viewfinders tend to have better resolution than optical ones, which can make it easier to focus and compose shots. Better and Quicker Focal Points One of the most notable advantages of mirrorless cameras is their focus system. Because they use contrast detection autofocus, they tend to be faster and more accurate than DSLR cameras, which use phase detection autofocus. This means that I can get razor-sharp images more consistently, even in low-light situations. With a DSLR camera, I often found myself having to take multiple shots just to make sure I got the focus right, but with a mirrorless camera, I can usually get it on the first try. More Affordable Finally, mirrorless cameras are often more affordable than DSLR cameras, especially if you’re just starting out in the industry. While there are certainly high-end, pricey mirrorless cameras out there, there are also plenty of entry-level options that offer a lot of bang for your buck. By understanding the qualities of each type of light, you can achieve the desired effect in your photography. Over the past 10 years, Kelly has been my go to photographer for all my headshot, portrait and family session needs. I like how her studio is on over 5 acres of land and she is always expanding and modifying her venues to create new and unique shooting areas. From the Country/Western Barn doors with the vintage horse trailer, to the Modern Industrial setting, my favorite is 1949 Old Blue Ford in the field. There is also a Vineyard and Tuscany Garden for that Italian or Bohemian look and an old Cabin for more personal portraits. Kelly's photography style and editing style always amazes me by creating timeless wall art that I know my grandchildren will be able to enjoy without feeling like they are looking at "old pictures".

I found Kelly by looking online for a photoshoot for my ten year anniversary. Out of all the other options, something drew me to Kelly's business. I called for a free consultation and had an appointment within a day. I met Kelly at her beautiful property and discussed a Be Your Own Beautiful session. I waited until almost the last minute but Kelly put everything together for me and I was in studio the next week.The Be Your Own Beautiful package was amazing! Hair and makeup was included in my package and made the event even more special. Kelly made me completely comfortable and encouraging with the most professionalism I could imagine. The encouragement from her during the shoot made my photos come out even better than I could have ever imagined.Kelly's eye for creativity and looks is amazing. She can incorporate just about anything in one way or another. Her property is set up with so many indoor and outdoor options for pictures all year round. Everywhere is another option, prop, or piece of art which can be used or incorporated into the shoot.My family just completed our Christmas pictures as well and are in love with them. Words cant express how happy we are with our daughters senior pictures. Kelly was an absolute joy to work with. The studio grounds were breathtaking. She and her grew have put a lot of time and energy into the space making for a ton of different picture ideas. Kelly is an amazing photographer! I met her about a year ago to do a boudoir shoot and she has been my go-to ever since. She recently did my maternity pictures and the sneak peak blew me away.
